What To Do In Chicago This Month
While summer is quickly coming to an end, the hustle and bustle of Chicago will not slow down. Closing the summer season, September is prime time for the final summer festivals, street fests, concerts, and parties for everyone to get the last hoorah in before the cold rolls in. If you are looking for some events to attend, here is what you can expect to see around town.
Drive-In, Dinner and Drinks
What’s better than watching a movie and having a drink in the comfort of your own car? Every weekend, the Rock Island Public House hosts a free drive-in movie series, showing America’s favorite and most coveted classic flicks. Screenings are free to attend on a first come, first serve basis until September 26. Did I mention you can enjoy a wide selection of fantastic food and drinks!? If you’re looking for a cozy, casual date night, this might be the event for you.

Pilsen Vendor Market
Hosted by the Pilsen Art House, the Pilsen Vendor Market is a weekly event featuring local artists and makers in an indoor/outdoor space. The market will be open from 4-8 p.m. weekly on Sundays through September 26th, with the goal to bring the community together while showcasing local vendors and craft artisans. As an added incentive to visit, each week, organizers will donate vendor fees to Pilsen-based nonprofits.

Riot Fest
Back and ready for vengeance, the 3-day rock and hip-hop festival is back! Known as one of the largest independently-owned music festivals in the US, you’ll get the chance to rock out with some industry rock legends. A few artists you can look forward to seeing are The Smashing Pumpkins, Sublime, Run The Jewels, Machine Gun Kelly, just to name a few. With not too many summer days left, catch one of the last music festivals left in Chicago for 2021.
Hyde Park Jazz Festival
An outdoor venue, beautiful weather, and jazz music, sounds like the perfect weekend to me! The beloved neighborhood jazz festival typically takes place at venues throughout Hyde Park, but most performances will take place outdoors this year with the safety of all attendees in mind. With a free admission, go listen to some smooth music with the company of local residents.
